How is an upload signal processed by an inverting linear transponder?
Pick an answer to check it.
Answer: D. The signal is mixed with a local oscillator signal and the difference product is transmitted
The uplink signal is mixed with a local oscillator and the difference product is retransmitted. Taking the difference (LO minus input) is what inverts the spectrum. Nothing is detected or remodulated.
Tip: Difference product = inverted spectrum.
